Our deacons are guided by the Holy Spirit and ordained to assist the Pastor with providing for the spiritual needs, development, and growth of our church family. The deacons take care of the business of the church.

 

 

HNBC Deaconess Board

Mission

  • Assist the deacons with the business of the church
  • Preparation of items for Holy Communion (1st Sundays)
  • Assist with Baptism ceremonies
  • Assist with devotional services

Operations

The Deaconess Board meets monthly.

HNBC Usher Board

 Mission

  • Enhance the Worship Service by providing a friendly cheerful greeting to all who enter the Church service.
  • Assist with smooth operation within and during the Church service.
  • Respond to special requests and directions given by the Pastor.

Operations

  • Regular meetings shall be held after worship service on the 3rd Sunday in each month.
  • The Usher Board Anniversary is celebrated annually on the 1st Friday in April.
  • The Usher Board is a member of the Usher Association of Savannah.

HNBC Senior Choir

“It came to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth forever; that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord;”

Mission

The music ministry works hand-in-hand with the teaching and preaching ministries of the church to help lead the congregation in worship and praising of God. The music ministry supports the ministry of the Church by providing music which will inspire, facilitate, and enrich the service and support the preaching of the Pastor.

Operations

  • The Senior Choir meets monthly with special meetings as necessary.
  • Members pay dues to fund special activities sponsored by the choir; special fundraisers may also be scheduled.
  • The Senior Choir celebrates its anniversary annually on the 2nd Sunday in June.

 

HNBC Youth Department

Mission

Train and prepare our children to be the future leaders of the Church.

Operations

  • The HNBC Youth Department meets monthly on the 3rd
  • The Youth department is responsible for the 3rd Sunday worship program. Additionally, the department plans and executes special programs (e.g., Easter, Christmas, graduation ceremonies,) and a variety of other special events.

HNBC Community Food Pantry

Mission

The HNBC Food Pantry is a community outreach program of the church. Working in partnership with Second Harvest of Savannah this ministry is responsible for the planning, coordination, and distribution of food to the community at large.

Operations

  • The ‘Feeding the Community’ Drive-Thru Food Giveaway is scheduled monthly.
  • The HNBC Food Pantry members meet monthly.

Kitchen Auxiliary

Mission
To ensure that the kitchen is:
• Clean and well-stocked with all necessities.
• Kept ready for the Cooking Committee or any auxiliary that requires its use.
Operations
• Meet periodically as required.

 

    HNBC Historical Preservation Board

    Mission
    To preserve the historical identity of the church with orderly records that capture and preserve our heritage as a faith-based/faith-lived congregation. These records are foundational to HNBC in elevating the spirit-driven meaning of our past, magnifying the context of legacy for our present, and providing additional congregational inspiration as we work to advance the Kingdom of God.

    Operations
    • Record, update, preserve, and interpret the historical artifacts of the Church.
    • Make our historical collections and stories visible/accessible to our congregation and to the community using a range of media.
    • Liaise with other churches and organizations that have an interest in preserving the historical legacy of the Church and the community.
    • Provide program support for church events (church anniversary, community outreach events, etc.).
    • Meet periodically as required.
